Neutrois?

Because we ALL have something to hide.

If you haven't figured it out by now, let's take this opportunity to kill a myth. A frilly baby-doll dress over football pads, furry legs, 4'' heels, strap-on dildo, beard, huge bra stuffers, and giant wig does not a Neutrois make. Neutrois are at the opposite end of gender expression. We strive for complete concealment/removal of gender traits. To say we look as if we all grew up without going through puberty is much more accurate.

Body - Fitness is a controversial issue, and bringing this up doesn't mean we're promoting supermodel thinness. Starved isn't healthy. If it was, we'd all be functioning happily on 2 celery sticks, and a 1/4 cup of brown rice, per day... Get real!

The advantage to being fairly fit, is that you don't have as much fat in places that give your physicality away (i.e. breasts, hips, belly, thighs, butt). This makes trait concealment much easier. For persons seeking gender trait surgery; smaller fat deposits make things simpler for the surgeon, and will help you heal with smaller scars.

If you're thinking you need to shed some pounds, find a dietitian (someone who is medically trained and board certified, not a commercial diet-plan starvation coach), and make an appointment to assess your food intake.

It's important to know that there is no one answer for everyone, with regard to losing weight. Different methods work for different people. Fad diets are never an answer, and neither is starvation. Stay away from anything that recommends extremely low calorie intakes, fasting, or stresses eating a very limited variety of foods (i.e. Grapefruit Diet, Cabbage Diet, etc.) These types of diets only risk your health and set you up for failure.

In many cases, implementing an exercise plan does wonders. Currently, fitness experts recommend a mixture of aerobic exercise (which could be as simple as swimming, power walking, or pedaling a bicycle), light weight training, and stretching exercises. We've also found the Pilates exercise method, combined with a mild aerobic regimen, to be excellent for toning a body. Pilates is also good therapy for persons with back problems. If you live near a Pilates studio, look into their programs. To read about the Pilates method, check your local library, or a bookstore, for the following titles:

The Pilates Body - Brooke Siler (Bantam Doubleday Dell, 2000).
The Complete Guide to the Pilates Method - Allan Menezes and Peter Green (Hunter House Publishing, 2000)
